JSA’s Spring State was an incredible success for our rapidly growing club at AGBU-MHS! JSA conventions provide students the opportunity to network with, and debate, their peers from other schools across Southern California.
JSA Spring State was a series of mini debates that our students actively participated in as speakers and audience members. In these respective roles, students debated proposed bills, networked with other students, and gave floor speeches in front of dozens of their peers. During this session, our students participated in the debates on online gun sales, environmental issues, the conflict on Artsakh, and many more.
We are extremely proud of all those who attended and represented AGBU so well, including the upper and lower class man. Not only did we debate bills, but three of our students took home the best speaker awards: Vahe Demirjian, Joseph Atme, and Alexander Galstjan. In addition, our school was awarded the Hospitality award for being the school to bring in the most cans. This was a team effort headed and organized by Marilyn Bedoyan, Rachel Bedoyan, Sabrina Pelenghian and Shoghik Gasparyan. I would like to give a special thank you to our executive members for ensuring that we had a strong presence this time around.
Winter Congress was an extremely enriching experience for all our students. For Seniors, it will be their last JSA trip. For the Freshman and Sophmores it was their first time, and they learned much from the experience. Our club membership, which has increased the size of our club to 30 (plus) students, will grow even more next year.
We look forward to the upcoming 2019-2020 school year.
